Job summary

Polaris Education is seeking a SEN Class Teacher for a Burnsley school in Burnley, Lancashire. The role involves planning and delivering high quality lessons under the national curriculum while meeting the SEMH needs of all pupils.

The post requires strong classroom management and collaborative work with the school team. The successful candidate will hold QTS, have degree-level education, and relevant teaching experience with SEMH.

Qualifications

  • Strong base of education to degree level with relevant subject knowledge.
  • Experience delivering lessons to pupils with SEMH needs is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality lessons that meet SEMH needs within the national curriculum.
  • Support the class team to facilitate learning and promote positive behaviours.
  • Report pupil progress and liaise with staff to meet individual needs.
  • Supervise pupils during non-classroom time and on trips/activities.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils and drive learning outcomes.

Basic Salary: 28,000 - 39,520

Contract: Full Time, Term time only

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Role responsibilities
  • Responsible for the planning and delivery of high quality lessons within the national curriculum whilst meeting the complex SEMH needs of all pupils.
  • Supporting the class team in facilitating learning opportunities and promoting positive behaviours.
  • Reporting on pupils' progress and concerns, and liaising with other School staff to ensure pupils needs are met
  • Supervision of pupils during non-classroom time including extra-curricular activities and school trips
  • Building positive relationships with your pupil/s and driving interaction and positive learning outcomes
Requirements
  • Hold qualified teacher status (QTS)
  • Have a strong basic education to degree level
  • Previous successful teaching experience
  • Some previous experience of working with pupils with SEMH within an Educational setting
  • Experience of behaviour management and techniques
  • Committed to professional development and willing to learn
  • Must be willing to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check prior to commencing work.

The successful candidate will be required to complete an enhanced DBS Check, cost of which will be met by Polaris Education.
