Job summary

Polaris Education – Scunthorpe School in Scunthorpe is seeking a SEN Class Teacher to deliver high-quality lessons within the National Curriculum and to support pupils with complex SEMH needs.

The post offers a competitive salary (£28,000–£39,520 per year), 37.5 hours per week, and term-time restrictions. You will join a dedicated team focused on wellbeing, development, and inclusive education.

Qualifications

  • QTS holder with degree-level education.
  • Proven teaching experience with SEMH pupils.
  • Experience of using effective behaviour management.
  • Commitment to professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality lessons within the National Curriculum while meeting SEMH needs.
  • Support the class team in facilitating learning opportunities and promoting positive behaviours.
  • Report on pupils' progress and liaising with other school staff.
  • Supervise pupils during non-classroom time, including trips.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils to encourage learning outcomes.

About Our School

Located in Scunthorpe, our new school has the capacity for up to 42 pupils and offers a safe and supportive environment for pupils aged 5 to 18 with a range of complex needs. Role Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver high-quality lessons within the National Curriculum while meeting the complex SEMH needs of all pupils
  • Support the class team in facilitating learning opportunities and promoting positive behaviours
  • Report on pupils' progress and concerns, liaising with other school staff to ensure pupils' needs are met
  • Supervise pupils during non-classroom time, including extra-curricular activities and school trips
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, encouraging interaction and positive learning outcomes
Requirements
  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Have a strong educational background to degree level
  • Have previous successful teaching experience
  • Have previous experience of working with pupils with SEMH within an educational setting
  • Have experience of using effective behaviour management techniques
  • Be committed to professional development and willing to learn

The successful candidate will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check, the cost of which will be met by Polaris Education.
