Job summary

Polaris Education is recruiting a SEN Class Teacher for Banbury School in Banbury, Oxfordshire. The role is full-time, term-time only, 37.5 hours per week, located in Banbury. Start date projected September 2026.

The school serves pupils aged 5 to 18 with complex SEMH needs and is part of the Polaris Community, renowned for safeguarding and good/outstanding Ofsted ratings. You will plan and deliver lessons within the national curriculum, support the team, monitor progress, and supervise pupils

Qualifications

• Must hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Degree-level education (or higher).
• Proven teaching experience in a classroom setting.
• Experience with SEMH pupils in an educational setting.
• Strong behaviour management and proactive strategies.
• Willing to undergo Enhanced DBS check (DBS).
• Must have own transport and be willing to drive.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver high-quality lessons within the national curriculum for SEMH pupils.
• Support the class team in facilitating learning opportunities and promoting positive behaviours.
• Report on pupil progress and liaise with staff to ensure needs are met.

Role responsibilities

• Responsible for the planning and delivery of high quality lessons within the national curriculum whilst meeting the complex SEMH needs of all pupils.
• Supporting the class team in facilitating learning opportunities and promoting positive behaviours.
• Reporting on pupils' progress and concerns, and liaising with other School staff to ensure pupils needs are met
• Supervision of pupils during non-classroom time including extra-curricular activities and school trips
• Building positive relationships with your pupil/s and driving interaction and positive learning outcomes

Requirements

• Hold qualified teacher status (QTS)
• Have a strong basic education to degree level
• Previous successful teaching experience
• Some previous experience of working with pupils with SEMH within an Educational setting
• Experience of behaviour management and techniques
• Committed to professional development and willing to learn
• Must be willing to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check prior to commencing work
• It is essential that you drive and have your own transport.
