Job summary

Barnet Education and Learning Service is seeking a SEN Caseworker to manage Looked After Children within a defined area or group of schools, ensuring seamless assessment coordination and EHC plan management through to completion, including transition planning after age 18.

The role requires knowledge of SEND legislation and a DBS check. You will join a supportive, dynamic team and receive extensive in-house training and supervision.

Qualifications

• Experience and/or knowledge of SEND legislation is essential.
• Knowledge of financial responsibilities regarding Looked After children.
• Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) with barred list check required for all successful applicants.

We are seeking to appoint a SEN Caseworker. The successful candidate will have primary responsibility for a caseload relating to a defined group of schools or geographical area. The caseworker will oversee Looked After Children both in and out of the borough and remain responsible for those cases through new assessments to ceasing the EHC plans. The caseworker will manage the effective co‑ordination of the assessment, and review the Education, Health and Care Plan (EHC plan) of individual pupils, according to the Children and Families Act 2014. Post 18 may be the focus of this role as we look to transition those young persons into their next phase.

Experience and/or knowledge of SEND legislation is essential. including knowledge of financial responsibilities regarding Looked After children In return, you will be offered extensive in-house training and an opportunity to develop skills in the SEN environment. You will be given regular supervision and be part of a thriving dynamic team.
