Job summary

Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking an experienced SEN Officer to join the SEND Service and manage EHNAs, develop and review EHCPs, and support complex casework. You will liaise with families, schools and partner agencies to ensure appropriate SEND provision.

Qualifications

• This role requires a relevant degree or professional qualification in SEND or substantial SEND experience.
• Strong knowledge of SEND legislation, including the Children and Families Act 2014 and SEND Code of Practice.
• Ability to manage a varied caseload and make informed decisions in complex cases.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven partnership work, advocacy and mediation abilities.
• Experience collaborating with education, health, social care and the voluntary sector.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate Education, Health and Care Needs Assessments.
• Draft, review and amend Education, Health and Care Plans.
• Provide expert guidance to parents, carers and professionals.
• Work with partners to deliver co-produced SEND provision.
• Monitor progress and outcomes for EHCPs; assist with complex casework and SEND Tribunal hearings.
• Contribute to service improvement and strategic projects.
• Support development of SEND provision across Calderdale.
