Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking a resilient Behaviour Support Worker to join a SEN specialist provision in Bedford. You will support students aged 11-16 (KS3 & KS4) with social, emotional and academic needs, helping them reintegrate or build essential life skills.

Join a team that mentors learners, plans inclusive activities, and tracks progress while liaising with parents and external agencies. DBS checks and a right to work in the UK are required.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young adults with SEND, SEMH, or significant behavioural challenges.
  • Team Teach training is preferred, with encouragement to apply if not yet trained.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
  • Full right to work in the UK and a minimum of 3 months UK residency.

Responsibilities

  • Work 1:1 or in small groups to support positive academic engagement and emotional growth.
  • Assist staff in designing inclusive activities and individual support plans (ISPs).
  • Apply positive reinforcement and de-escalation strategies to manage behaviours.
  • Monitor and record student milestones and progress.
  • Act as liaison between school, parents and external agencies to support welfare.
