Job summary

Teaching Personnel in Bedford is seeking a resilient Behaviour Support Worker to join a SEN specialist provision for KS3 & KS4. You will support students aged 11-16, helping them overcome social, emotional, and academic barriers, with a focus on safe reintegration or building essential life skills.

This role combines mentoring with classroom support, 1:1 and small-group work, collaboration with teachers to design tailored ISPs, and proactive behaviour management.

Qualifications

• Experience with SEND/SEMH or significant behavioural challenges.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to stay calm under pressure.
• Team Teach training preferred, willingness to undertake training if not already qualified.

Responsibilities

• Empower Learning: 1:1 or small groups to drive academic engagement and emotional growth.
• Plan & Collaborate: assist staff in creating inclusive activities and ISPs.
• Behaviour Mentoring: use positive reinforcement and de-escalation strategies.
• Track Progress: monitor milestones and celebrate small wins.
• Community Liaison: act as a bridge between school, parents, and external agencies.
