Job summary

YMCA Fairthorne Group in Andover is seeking a dedicated SEND Early Years Practitioner to provide 1:1 support to a child with additional needs in our nursery.

You will help the child participate in activities, build confidence and independence, and work closely with parents, carers and Early Years colleagues.

Evidence of a Level 3 Early Years or Childcare qualification and experience supporting children with disabilities on a 1:1 basis is required; safeguarding knowledge is essential.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Early Years or Childcare qualification required.
• Experience of supporting children with disabilities or additional needs on a 1:1 basis.
• Good safeguarding knowledge and experience of supporting behaviour.

Responsibilities

• Provide consistent 1:1 support for a designated child.
• Help the child engage with activities and play with peers.
• Adapt experiences so the child can participate fully.
• Encourage communication, confidence and independence.
• Champion the child's individual needs.
• Maintain clear communication with parents and carers.
• Complete daily handovers and records.
• Follow individual care and support plans.
