Job summary

Brabner Fox in Lancashire is seeking a Semi-Senior Accountant to join the accounts team, focusing on accounts preparation and the underlying bookkeeping for a diverse client base. You'll take ownership from initial records through to finished accounts, develop technical skills, and contribute to timely delivery with client-focused communication.

This hands-on role offers study support for professional progression and exposure to VAT, reconciliations, and year-end work across sole traders,

Qualifications

• Experience working within an accountancy practice.
• Strong accounts preparation experience across sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
• Confident with bookkeeping, reconciliations, VAT and accounting software.
• Excellent attention to detail and pride in producing accurate work.
• Able to manage your own workload and meet deadlines.
• Good communication skills and a practical, client-focused approach.
• AAT Level 3 as a minimum.

Responsibilities

• Preparing year-end accounts for a mixed portfolio of clients.
• Completing and reviewing bookkeeping records, ensuring accuracy and reconciliation.
• Preparing VAT returns and supporting clients with bookkeeping-related queries.
• Preparing supporting schedules, reconciliations and working papers.
• Liaising with clients to request information and resolve queries.
• Working closely with senior team members and taking on increasing responsibility.
• Helping ensure client work is delivered accurately and to deadline.

Our client, a growing accountancy practice based in Lancashire, is looking for a Semi-Senior Accountant to join their accounts team.

This is a hands-on practice role with a strong focus on accounts preparation and the bookkeeping that sits behind it. You’ll work across a varied client base, taking ownership of jobs from initial records through to completed accounts, while developing your technical ability and client-facing experience.

What you’ll be doing:

• Preparing year-end accounts for a mixed portfolio of clients, including sole traders, partnerships and limited companies


• Completing and reviewing bookkeeping records, ensuring transactions are accurate, correctly coded and reconciled


• Preparing VAT returns and supporting clients with bookkeeping-related queries


• Preparing supporting schedules, reconciliations and working papers


• Liaising with clients to request information, resolve queries and keep work moving


• Working closely with senior members of the team and taking on increasing responsibility as you develop


• Helping ensure client work is delivered accurately and to deadline

What we’re looking for:

• Experience working within an accountancy practice


• Strong accounts preparation experience, ideally across sole traders, partnerships and limited companies


• Confident with bookkeeping, reconciliations, VAT and accounting software
