Sheridan Maine is recruiting a Semi Senior Accountant in City of London for an ambitious accounting professional. You will work with SMEs, owner-managed businesses, partnerships, and companies across tax and advisory work.

AAT qualified or ACA/ACCA studying, with experience in practice and bookkeeping. Excellent communication and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• AAT qualified or actively studying towards ACA or ACCA.
• Experience in an accountancy practice.
• Experience preparing accounts for various entities.
• Knowledge of bookkeeping, VAT and financial reporting.
• Proficiency with Xero, QuickBooks or Sage.
• Strong attention to detail and organisation.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare statutory accounts for a diverse client portfolio.
• Assist with management accounts and financial reports.
• Prepare corporation tax returns and schedules.
• Complete VAT returns and ensure compliance.
• Assist with bookkeeping and cloud accounting.
• Liaise with clients to resolve queries.
• Support senior staff with engagements and ad hoc projects.
• Assist with personal tax returns where required.
• Maintain working papers and meet deadlines.
• Build strong client relationships through service and communication.

Sheridan Maine is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a highly regarded and expanding accountancy practice in the City of London for a talented Semi Senior Accountant.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious accounting professional who is looking to develop their career within a supportive and dynamic practice environment. Working with a varied portfolio of SMEs, owner–managed businesses, partnerships, and limited companies, the successful candidate will gain exposure to a broad range of accounting, tax, and client advisory work.

Key responsibilities of the Semi Senior Accountant:

• Preparing statutory accounts for a diverse portfolio of clients.
• Assisting with the preparation of management accounts and financial reports.
• Preparing corporation tax returns and supporting schedules.
• Completing VAT returns and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
• Assisting with bookkeeping and cloud accounting assignments.
• Liaising directly with clients to resolve queries and obtain information.
• Supporting senior team members with client engagements and ad hoc projects.
• Assisting with the preparation of personal tax returns where required.
• Maintaining accurate working papers and ensuring assignments are completed on time.
• Building strong client relationships through excellent service and communication.

The successful Semi Senior Accountant will have:

• AAT qualified or be actively studying towards ACA or ACCA qualifications.
• Previous experience working within an accountancy practice environment.
• Experience preparing accounts for a range of business entities.
• A sound understanding of bookkeeping, VAT, and financial reporting principles.
• Good knowledge of accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar platforms.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
