Job summary

Hawthorne-Finch Talent Solutions Ltd seeks a Semi Senior Accountant to join a growing West Yorkshire practice. You will manage a client portfolio, handle bookkeeping, VAT and management reporting, and progress towards senior roles. The role offers modern systems and a supportive team.

You will work on cloud accounting platforms, prepare accounts up to trial balance, and liaise with clients. UK driving license may be helpful; some travel to clients could be required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' UK accountancy practice experience.
• Experience preparing accounts for Sole Traders, Limited Companies and Partnerships.
• Strong bookkeeping and VAT knowledge.
• Experience using cloud accounting software: Xero, QuickBooks, Sage Business Cloud, FreeAgent (desirable).
• Ability to prepare accounting records to trial balance level.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

Are you an ambitious Semi Senior Accountant looking to build your career within a supportive and forward-thinking accountancy practice?

Our client is seeking a motivated accounting professional to join their growing team in West Yorkshire. This role offers the opportunity to manage your own portfolio of clients, gain exposure to a varied range of businesses, and develop your technical skills across accounts, bookkeeping, VAT and management reporting, with a clear pathway towards senior and management positions.

The Role

Working closely with senior members of the team, you will manage a portfolio of small business clients while supporting the delivery of high-quality accounting services.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing a portfolio of clients using cloud accounting software
• Processing bookkeeping records and maintaining accurate financial information
• Preparing and submitting VAT returns
• Liaising with clients via telephone and email
• Supporting the firm's Making Tax Digital (MTD) services
• Assisting with accounts preparation up to trial balance
• Supporting the production of management accounts
• Managing deadlines and prioritising workload effectively
• Working collaboratively within a supportive team environment
• Occasional travel to clients when required

About You

Essential Requirements

• Minimum 3 years' recent UK accountancy practice experience
• Experience preparing accounts for:
