Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting an SEMH Teaching Assistant in Walsall for a long-term role with an immediate start. You will provide individual and classroom support to pupils with SEMH needs, helping them engage with learning and build confidence and independence.

You will work closely with teaching staff in a structured, supportive environment. The role requires experience with SEND, SEMH needs, and strong behaviour management.

Qualifications

SEMH Teaching Assistant

Location: Walsall

Start Date: Immediate Start

Salary: £95 - £115 per day

Do you have the patience and resilience needed to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs?

Are you confident adapting your approach to support pupils across different ages and individual needs?

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a specialist SEND setting in Walsall supporting pupils of mixed ages with Social, Emotional and Mental Health / SEMH needs. The setting provides a structured and supportive environment where pupils are encouraged to build confidence, develop positive relationships and overcome barriers to learning.

The setting is looking to appoint an SEMH Teaching Assistant on a long-term basis with an immediate start. The successful SEMH Teaching Assistant will provide individual and classroom support, manage behaviour positively and work closely with teaching staff to help pupils engage with learning and develop their confidence and independence.

The successful SEMH Teaching Assistant will have:

• Experience working with children or young people with SEND
• Experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs
• Confidence working with pupils across different ages
• Strong behaviour management and communication skills
• The ability to remain calm and consistent in challenging situations
• A patient, resilient and adaptable approach
