Job summary

Esland is seeking a committed SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our brand new SEN school. The role involves supporting children aged 8 to 16, delivering one-to-one and small group support, and working closely with teachers to help learners reach their potential. The position is full-time and permanent, with a 8:30am–4:30pm schedule.

Qualifications

  • Experience meeting the needs of primary and secondary aged children who have experienced difficulty accessing mainstream education.
  • Awareness of SEND needs impacting self-regulation: communication, cognition, learning, sensory and physical needs.
  • Inclusive, empathetic, solution-focused and passionate about making a difference for learners.
  • Awareness of trauma-informed practices and positive mental health promotion.
  • Ability to understand and manage behaviour that challenges.
  • Teamwork skills and commitment to progression and school improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils one-to-one or in small groups to fulfil their potential.
  • Collaborate with class teachers to plan and implement learning activities.
  • Support students to develop new skills and confidence in learning.
  • Be flexible and ready to take on additional duties as required.
