Job summary

Esland are recruiting a SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our new SEN school in Doncaster. You will support pupils aged 8–16, one-to-one or in small groups, helping them engage with learning and reach their potential.

You will work with teachers, apply trauma-informed practices, manage behaviours, and help create an inclusive learning environment while developing your skills and experience within a growing educational organisation.

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with First Aid and safeguarding practices.
  • Ability to relate well to children and adults.
  • Work constructively as part of a team in a school setting.
  • Some knowledge of National Curriculum requirements.
  • Proficient in using ICT to support learning.
  • Understand relevant policies and codes of practice.
  • Basic understanding of child development and learning.
  • Willingness to self-improve and seek learning opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils one-to-one or in small groups to help them reach their potential.
  • Adapt support to meet diverse SEND needs and behaviour challenges.
  • Be an inclusive, empathetic team member driving school improvement.
  • Apply trauma-informed practices and promote positive mental health.
  • Assist with managing behaviour in the classroom.
  • Collaborate with teachers to implement lesson plans.
