Job summary

Monarch Education is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support pupils academically and emotionally. You will work with teachers and pastoral staff to deliver tailored support for secondary students, particularly those with SEMH and behavioural needs.

In this role you will build trust, maintain professional boundaries, and model positive behaviour while helping pupils engage with learning and achieve their goals. A calm, patient approach is essential.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a school setting.
  • Strong behaviour management skills.
  • Excellent spoken and written English.
  • Confidence supporting secondary-aged pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs.
  • A calm, patient and resilient approach.
  • The ability to build trust and establish professional boundaries with students.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis.
  • Building positive and professional relationships with young people.
  • Supporting students with SEMH and behavioural needs.
  • Promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
  • Helping pupils engage with learning and achieve their goals.
  • Acting as a positive role model within the classroom.
  • Assisting with behaviour management and de-escalation strategies.
  • Supporting students who may have experienced trauma or disrupted education.

Skills

Previous experience as TA in a school
