Job summary

AMA Admin seeks a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to support a South Liverpool primary school. You will work with pupils with SEMH needs, delivering tailored interventions and consistent behavioural support to help them re-engage with learning.

This role is suitable for both new and experienced educators who value wellbeing, community, and a stable, supportive school environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour.
  • Team Teach training (preferred).
  • Calm, patient, and solution-focused under pressure.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed and relational practice.
  • Desire to help pupils re-engage with education.
  • Strong communication and safeguarding commitment.

  • Provide SEMH support to pupils in KS1 and KS2 (primarily boys).
  • Implement 1:1 and small-group interventions focused on emotional regulation, behaviour, and social skills.
  • De-escalate challenging situations using positive behaviour management strategies.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils who may display high levels of dysregulation.
  • Work collaboratively with class teachers, SENCO, and external professionals.
  • Contribute to a safe, nurturing, and structured learning environment.

SEMH Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in South Liverpool. This role involves working closely with students who present with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, providing tailored interventions and consistent behavioural support.
