Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting an SEMH Teaching Assistant for a Pupil Referral Unit in Bury, Greater Manchester. The role involves supporting students with SEMH, autism and behavioural challenges on a 1:1 and small-group basis and has the potential to go permanent.

The position offers competitive pay (£95-£120 per day) and a supportive team environment, with ongoing consultant support to ensure successful placements.

Qualifications

• At least 6 months’ experience working with young people with SEMH or challenging behaviour.
• Experience within a PRU, Alternative Provision or SEND setting is highly desirable.
• A patient, empathetic and proactive approach.
• A passion for helping students achieve their full potential — academically and personally.

Responsibilities

• Support students with SEMH, Autism and behavioural challenges on a 1:1 and small-group basis.
• Build trust, provide emotional support and help learners re-engage with education.
• Work closely with teachers, mentors and behaviour leads to implement individual support plans.
• Encourage personal growth, resilience and positive choices.
