Job summary

TeacherActive are seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant for a PRU in Failsworth, Greater Manchester. The role involves supporting students with SEMH, Autism, and behavioural challenges on a 1:1 and small-group basis, with potential for permanent placement.

You will build trusting relationships, provide emotional support, and work with staff to implement individual plans while aiming to help students thrive academically and personally.

Qualifications

• Experience with SEMH or challenging behaviour.
• Desirable experience in PRU/Alternative Provision or SEND settings.
• Patient, empathetic and proactive approach.
• Passion for helping students achieve their potential.

SEMH Teaching Assistant - Failsworth, Greater Manchester

Are you a calm, resilient and caring SEMH Teaching Assistant looking for a role where you can truly make a difference?
TeacherActive are proud to be working with a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Failsworth, Greater Manchester that supports young people with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), Autism and challenging behaviour.

Your Role:

• Support students with SEMH, Autism and behavioural challenges on a 1:1 and small-group basis.
• Build trust, provide emotional support and help learners re-engage with education.
• Work closely with teachers, mentors and behaviour leads to implement individual support plans.
• Encourage personal growth, resilience and positive choices.
• At least 6 months' experience working with young people with SEMH or challenging behaviour.
• Experience within a PRU, Alternative Provision or SEND setting is highly desirable.
• A patient, empathetic and proactive approach.
• A passion for helping students achieve their full potential — academically and personally.
