Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant for a specialist provision in Warrington. You will support students with social, emotional and mental health needs, both in and out of the classroom, helping to manage behaviour and encourage engagement in learning.

Starting on a temporary basis with potential for permanent placement, you will work with a supportive team, enjoy market-leading pay, and benefit from ongoing CPD and friendly onboarding processes.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs.
• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
• Previous experience in a school or alternative provision setting.
• A calm, patient and adaptable approach.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• A genuine passion for supporting students with additional needs.

Responsibilities

• Support students both in and out of the classroom.
• Help to manage behaviour and de-escalate when needed.
• Provide emotional support to pupils.
• Create a positive learning environment for engagement.
