Job summary

Lift Wishmore is seeking a SEMH Teaching Assistant to support students with social, emotional and mental health needs. You’ll work with teachers to enable participation, plan activities, and foster a safe, inclusive classroom where every student can learn.

The role emphasises development through qualifications and progression, with apprenticeship pathways and opportunities to grow within a caring, diverse school community.

Qualifications

• GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths, or willingness to work towards functional skills
• Ability to work collaboratively as a trusted team member
• Good communication skills and a reflective approach to learning
• No long years of experience required

Responsibilities

• Support students to access lesson content and help them achieve learning goals
• Assist teachers to plan, assess learning, and guide individual or small group sessions
• Help students build independent learning skills and manage their own progress
• Create positive relationships and support wellbeing, behaviour and personal care
• Collaborate with teaching staff, parents and carers to achieve the best outcomes for every student
• Contribute to preparing resources, trips and activities that meet diverse needs
