Job summary

Zest Education is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant in Cannock to support pupils aged 5-16 with SEMH needs. You will work closely with teachers, using de-escalation strategies and restorative approaches to support behaviour and emotional development.

This full-time, long-term role offers CPD opportunities and a welcoming team. You will build trusted relationships, provide tailored interventions, and collaborate with pastoral staff to help students thrive in a dynamic school environment.

Qualifications

• Has experience working with children, adults or young people with SEN needs, challenging behaviour, or trauma
• Remains calm, resilient, and consistent under pressure
• Can build rapport quickly and act as a positive role model
• Is adaptable, patient, and confident in fast-paced environments
• Has an enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or is willing to apply for one)

Responsibilities

• Support pupils aged between 5–16 with SEMH needs, trauma histories, and behavioural challenges
• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils who require stability and emotional support
• Help deliver tailored interventions that promote regulation, engagement, and personal development
• Assist teachers within the classroom and during off-site activities
• Use de-escalation strategies and restorative approaches to support behaviour management
• Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, and external agencies
