Job summary

Veritas Education is recruiting an SEMH Teaching Assistant to support pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs within a school environment in Bradford, United Kingdom.

You will work closely with teachers, SENCO and pastoral teams to provide 1:1 and small-group support, helping pupils manage emotions, build resilience and access the curriculum in a caring, inclusive setting.

Qualifications

• Level 2 English and Maths (GCSE grade 4/C or Functional Skills).
• Previous experience working with children or young people in school, education, youth work, care, pastoral or support setting.
• Willingness to undertake relevant training and SEMH/behaviour support knowledge.
• Enhanced DBS check is mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality learning, pastoral and emotional support to pupils with SEMH and additional needs.
• Offer targeted 1:1 and small-group support to pupils experiencing anxiety or regulatory challenges.
• Support pupils with SEMH, ADHD, autism, communication and learning needs.
• Help pupils recognise emotions, triggers and coping strategies, promoting positive behaviour.
• Monitor pupil progress and communicate with teachers and families as appropriate.
• Maintain confidential records and contribute to safeguarding procedures.
