Job summary

Philosophy Education is seeking an experienced SEMH Teaching Assistant to support pupils in UK primary schools. The role focuses on pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs, assisting with regulation, engagement and learning.

You will provide 1:1 and small-group support, build positive relationships, and work with teachers and pastoral teams to implement behaviour plans and targeted interventions.

• Experienced in supporting pupils with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour.
• Calm, patient, resilient and emotionally aware.
• Confident managing dysregulated and challenging behaviour.
• Skilled at building positive, trusting relationships.
• Knowledgeable in emotional regulation and positive behaviour support.
• Consistent, reliable and able to remain calm under pressure.
• Compassionate and able to understand the needs behind behaviour.
• A strong communicator and effective team player.
• Committed to developing pupils' confidence, independence and wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH needs.
• Supporting emotional regulation, behaviour and engagement.
• Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
• Managing challenging behaviour with a calm and consistent approach.
• Supporting pupils to develop confidence, resilience and independence.
• Delivering targeted interventions and personalised support.
• Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral teams.
• Following behaviour support plans, risk assessments and school policies.
