Job summary

Integra Education (North) LTD in Wigan is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support children with SEMH and SEND needs. The role involves mentoring pupils, assisting teachers, and contributing to positive learning outcomes.

Start ASAP, term time only, with a daily rate of £110 (UMB). The team provides dedicated consultant support and a friendly, inclusive working environment. DBS checks and references are required, with enhanced safeguarding practices in place.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting pupils with SEMH/SEND needs in an educational setting.
• Strong behaviour management skills and ability to implement strategies.
• Team Teach training or willingness to train; trauma-informed approaches.
• Willingness to take on additional responsibilities in areas like lunchtime activities or clubs.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and support one pupil or small groups.
• Assist classroom teacher during lessons.
• Report on pupils' progress and liaise with school staff.
• Supervise pupils during non-classroom time and on school trips.

Integra Education (North) LTD are currently recruiting dedicated Teaching Assistants to join our team in Wigan. This role involves supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, complex behaviours and special educational needs (SEND).

Role Responsibilities

• Dedicated to mentoring and supporting one pupil or else a small groups
• Supporting the classroom teacher during lessons
• Reporting on pupils' progress and concerns and liaising with other school staff to ensure pupils' needs are met
• Supervision of pupils during non-classroom time including extra-curricular activities and school trips
• Assisting with lesson planning and classroom preparation
• Setting work where appropriate and marking
• Building positive relationships with your pupils and driving interaction and positive learning outcomes

Requirements

• Previous experience in a similar role as a Teaching Assistant
• Previous experience of working with pupils with SEMH or SEND within an educational setting
• Be experienced and confident enough to take additional responsibility in an area of school, e.g Food Hygiene, Forest School, lunchtimes etc.
• Experience of behaviour management and techniques
• Committed to professional development and willing to learn
• Enhanced DBS or willing to apply
• Level 2 or above Teaching Assistant qualification is desired but not essential.
• Must be Team Teach trained and able to used a trauma informed approach.
