Job summary

Coba Education is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to work in specialist and mainstream schools across Northamptonshire. This role supports students with SEMH needs, building relationships and helping them reach their potential. The ideal candidate will have a calm, patient approach and good communication.

We offer dedicated consultant support, access to local schools, flexible working opportunities and competitive rates of pay. DBS check and references may be required.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting SEMH, SEN, behavioural needs or challenging behaviour.
  • Calm, patient and positive demeanor.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Resilience in challenging situations.
  • Qualifications advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Support students inside and outside of the classroom.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
  • Implement support strategies and behaviour plans.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals.
  • Promote student confidence, wellbeing and independence.

Job description

Coba Education is seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to work within specialist and mainstream school settings across Northamptonshire. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and helping them achieve their full potential.

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students who require additional emotional and behavioural support, building positive relationships and helping to create a safe, engaging learning environment.

The Role
  • Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs
  • Supporting students both inside and outside of the classroom
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Implementing support strategies and behaviour plans
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals
  • Promoting student confidence, wellbeing and independence
The Ideal Candidate
  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, SEN, behavioural needs, or challenging behaviour
  • A calm, patient and positive approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to remain resilient in challenging situations
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people
  • Relevant qualifications are advantageous but not essential
