Job description

We are looking for a passionate and dedicated SEMH / PRU Teaching Assistant to join one of our partner schools in Trafford and make a real difference to children with Special Educational Needs.

Job Description:

As an SEMH / PRU Teaching Assistant, you will:

  1. Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters emotional well-being and academic growth.
  2. Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback and reports to students, parents, and colleagues.
  3. Work closely with teachers, support staff, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to student development.
  4. Foster strong relationships with students, encouraging resilience, self-esteem, and positive behaviour.
Requirements:
  1. Experience working with children and young people with SEMH needs, ideally within a PRU or similar setting.
  2. Strong understanding of SEMH issues and strategies to support students with these needs.
  3. Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to de-escalate challenging behaviours.
  4. Compassionate, patient, and resilient, with a genuine commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable students.
  5. Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals.
Desirable:
  1. Additional qualifications or training in SEMH, special education, or related areas.
  2. Knowledge of relevant legislation and best practices in SEN education.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This is a temporary position, with potential for permanency in the future.
