Are you passionate about supporting young people with social, emotional, and mental health needs? Do you want to make a real difference in a child's life? We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school environment in Coventry.
About the Role:
As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students who require additional emotional and behavioural support to access learning. You will provide 1:1 or small group support in the classroom and in therapeutic settings, helping students build confidence, develop resilience, and achieve personal and academic goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Support students with SEMH needs both inside and outside the classroom
Build strong, positive relationships with pupils and staff
Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering tailored interventions
Promote positive behaviour strategies and emotional regulation techniques
Work collaboratively with external agencies, parents, and carers
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, challenging behaviour, or SEN
A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
The ability to de-escalate challenging situations professionally
Good communication and teamwork skills
Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, Team Teach, or similar) - desirable but not essential
