About Us:

The school has a dedidcated focus on Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) support to ensure that each child receives the individualized attention and care they need to thrive both academically and personally. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our team and make a positive impact on students' lives.

Role Overview:
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students who require additional support due to social, emotional, and mental health needs. You will play a key role in creating a safe and nurturing environment that promotes students' well-being and academic progress. Your responsibilities will include one-on-one and small group support, assisting with classroom activities, and collaborating with teachers and other support staff to implement personalized learning plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide targeted support to students with SEMH needs, helping them to overcome barriers to learning.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies.
  • Support classroom teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, promoting their social and emotional development.
  • Monitor and record students' progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Assist with the planning and delivery of extracurricular activities and interventions.
  • Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment, adhering to school policies and procedures.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Relevant experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs.
  • A genuine passion for supporting the social, emotional, and mental health of students.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or SEMH support are desirable but not essential.
