Job summary

Milk Education is recruiting a dedicated SEMH Teaching Support Assistant for a specialist secondary school in Ashington. The role involves 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH needs, focusing on emotional regulation and engagement in lessons.

We value calm, proactive individuals who can be a positive role model, support behaviour management, and work closely with teachers and pastoral teams to help pupils re-engage with learning.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with young people who have SEMH or behavioural needs.
  • Ability to support students 1:1 and in small groups.
  • Confidence to de-escalate challenging behaviours and support learning.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Support students with emotional regulation and engagement in lessons.

  • Help manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour.
  • Support pupils during lessons, transitions and break times.

Pay: £450 – £550 per day

We are currently recruiting for a dedicated SEMH Teaching Support Assistant to join a lovely specialist secondary school in Ashington. There are multiple opportunities available, with the potential for roles to become permanent for the right candidates.

The Role

As a SEMH Teaching Support Assistant, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs
  • Support students with emotional regulation and engagement in lessons
  • Act as a positive role model, encouraging confidence and resilience
  • Help manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour
  • Support pupils during lessons, transitions and break times
  • Work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams
The Ideal Candidate
  • Experience working with young people with SEMH or behavioural needs
  • Confident, proactive and not afraid to get stuck in
  • Calm and resilient, with the ability to build strong relationships
  • Understanding of behaviour management strategies
  • Passionate about supporting vulnerable young people

Team Teach or similar training is desirable but not essential.
