Prospero are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Teaching Assistant to work in a specialist school near Stockport, supporting students with additional learning needs and social, emotional and mental health issues.

Responsibilities include:

• Encouraging children to engage with the basics of the curriculum
• Dealing with behavioural challenges
• Supporting pupils with barriers to learning, including additional learning needs
• Communicating effectively with pupils in a calm but firm manner, either in small groups or one-on-one, ensuring progress in line with their ability

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with pupils demonstrating challenging behaviours. The position is open to all experienced individuals with a strong background in mentoring children and young adults. Depending on performance, the school may extend the contract or offer a permanent position.

TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous experience in similar settings / SEMH / PRU / behaviour unit
• LEVEL 2 Teaching Assistant or equivalent and above (preferable)
• GCSE Maths and English; Computer literate

Additional requirements include:

• Up-to-date safeguarding training issued within the last year (training can be provided)
• Up-to-date prevent awareness & FGM training issued within the last 3 years (training can be provided)

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

To be eligible through Prospero Teaching, you must:

• Hold the Right to Work in the UK
• Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
• Provide two professional child-related references covering at least the last two years
