Job summary

Protocol Education Limited is seeking a Student Development Assistant to support students aged 6 to 17 with SEMH in a specialist provision. You will provide 1:1 and small group support, applying trauma-informed approaches to help regulate emotions and behaviour within a nurturing setting.

You will work closely with safeguarding and pastoral teams to maintain a safe, respectful learning environment and help students build confidence and social skills for long-term progress.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting students with SEMH/SEND or in residential care or alternative provision.
• Understands trauma-informed approaches and practices.
• Calm, consistent and professionally boundaried.
• Strong safeguarding awareness and safeguarding procedures knowledge.

Job description

We are working with a small, specialist trauma-informed provision supporting students aged 6 to 17 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. Many students have experienced significant trauma, including exploitation, and some are currently in care.

This is a nurturing, secure setting where relationships come first. Small class sizes, high staff ratios and a personalised curriculum allow each student to follow a bespoke pathway aligned to her ability, interests and aspirations.

The school’s values of Growth, Resilience, Belonging and Ownership are embedded in daily practice. Students are supported to rebuild self-worth, develop confidence and strengthen social skills in a calm, structured environment. On-site animals form part of the therapeutic offer, supporting emotional regulation and wellbeing.

The Role

As a Student Development Assistant, you will:

• Provide 1:1 and small group support


• Use trauma-informed approaches to support regulation

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience in SEMH, SEND, residential care or alternative provision

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
