Job summary

Protocol Education is seeking a Student Development Assistant to provide 1:1 and small group support to students aged 11 to 18 with SEMH needs in a specialist setting. You will use trauma-informed approaches to support regulation and help foster positive relationships within a safe, predictable environment.

You will work with safeguarding and pastoral teams, contribute to a calm learning atmosphere, and support emotional wellbeing.

Job description

We are working with a small, specialist trauma-informed provision supporting students aged 11 to 18 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. Many students have experienced significant trauma, including exploitation, and some are currently in care.

This is a nurturing, secure setting where relationships come first. Small class sizes, high staff ratios and a personalised curriculum allow each student to follow a bespoke pathway aligned to her ability, interests and aspirations.

The school’s values of Growth, Resilience, Belonging and Ownership are embedded in daily practice. Students are supported to rebuild self-worth, develop confidence and strengthen social skills in a calm, structured environment. On-site animals form part of the therapeutic offer, supporting emotional regulation and wellbeing.

The Role

As a Student Development Assistant, you will:

• Provide 1:1 and small group support
• Use trauma-informed approaches to support regulation
• Promote positive relationships and healthy boundaries
• Work closely with safeguarding and pastoral teams
• Contribute to a safe, respectful learning environment

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience in SEMH, SEND, residential care or alternative provision
• Understands trauma-informed practice
• Is calm, consistent and professionally boundaries
• Has strong safeguarding awareness

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
