Job summary

Pertemps Education Network is recruiting a dedicated SEMH, Psychology & SEN Learning Support Assistant in Lambeth. The role supports pupils with SEMH and SEN needs, often 1:1 or in small groups, helping them engage with learning and manage emotions in a nurturing school setting.

Ideal candidates hold a background in Psychology, Education, Youth Work or related fields, with calm, patient and resilient demeanor. The school offers training and development as part of a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people with SEN or SEMH.
• Background in Psychology, Education, Youth Work or a related field.
• Patience, empathy and strong communication skills.
• Calm, adaptable and resilient under pressure.
• Genuine passion for supporting vulnerable pupils.
• Confident working collaboratively with teaching staff and SEN professionals.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with SEMH, Autism (ASC), ADHD and additional learning needs.
• Work on a 1:1 basis and in small intervention groups.
• Help pupils regulate emotions and engage positively with learning.
• Support behaviour management using positive reinforcement strategies.
• Assist the class teacher in creating a safe, structured and inclusive environment.
• Build positive relationships that boost confidence, resilience and progress.
