Job summary

Protocol Education is seeking a SEMH Primary Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in LS14, Leeds. The role focuses on supporting pupils with SEMH needs and building positive relationships to help engagement and wellbeing.

You will deliver targeted interventions, assist with behaviour management and work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to create a nurturing learning environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with SEMH, behaviour or vulnerable pupils.
  • Strong de-escalation and behaviour management skills.
  • Calm, patient and empathetic by nature.

The Role
  • Supporting pupils with SEMH needs both in and out of the classroom
  • Building positive relationships to encourage engagement and trust
  • Delivering targeted interventions and emotional support
  • Assisting with behaviour management strategies
  • Working collaboratively with teaching staff and pastoral teams
The Ideal Candidate
  • Experience working with SEMH, behaviour or vulnerable pupils
  • Strong de-escalation and behaviour management skills
  • Calm, patient and empathetic nature
  • Ability to remain positive in challenging situations
  • Background in education, youth work, support work or similar welcomed
