Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is supporting a well-established SEMH school in Leyland to recruit a dedicated Pastoral Support Worker for a full-time role starting in September.

You will deliver 1:1 and small group mentoring, applying trauma-informed strategies and collaborating with staff, parents and external specialists to tailor support plans. A safeguarding clearance is required and a temporary-to-permanent path is offered.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young adults with SEMH or challenging behaviour.
• DBS check on Update Service (or willingness to complete one) and safeguarding clearance.
• Desirable: Team-Teach, CPI/MAPA, or trauma-informed practice training.

Responsibilities

• 1:1 and small group mentoring to help pupils regulate emotions and access the curriculum.
• De-escalation and wellbeing strategies to create a safe environment.
• Collaborate with teachers, SENCo, parents and external specialists to build support plans.
• Monitor attendance and engagement, building relationships to boost confidence and social development.
• Maintain accurate daily logs on pupil progress, wellbeing and behaviour.
