Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting for a SEMH Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a specialist school in Billericay, Essex, starting after October half-term 2026. The role focuses on boys aged 10–16 with SEMH needs, including ADHD, autism, and trauma-related needs.

It combines education with therapeutic support in a trauma-informed setting. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting vulnerable pupils, maintain calm under pressure, and work within a multidisciplinary team to promote

Qualifications

Experience supporting children with SEMH and challenging behaviour.
Calm, patient, resilient in challenging situations.
Knowledge of ADHD, autism, trauma and attachment needs.

Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH, ADHD and additional needs.
Support pupils displaying challenging behaviour and emotional dysregulation.
Use positive behaviour management and trauma-informed approaches to create a safe learning environment.
Build trusting relationships with pupils who may have experienced trauma or disrupted education.
Support teachers with differentiated lessons and personalised learning activities.
Help pupils achieve EHCP targets and develop social, emotional and communication skills.
