TeacherActive Limited is supporting a SEMH specialist school in Billericay, Essex, seeking a SEND Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to help pupils aged 10-16. You will provide 1:1 and small-group support, contributing to emotional and social development in a structured, therapeutic setting.

The ideal candidate will manage challenging behaviour using positive strategies and work closely with teachers, pastoral staff and other professionals to help pupils achieve EHCP targets.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people with SEND, SEMH, ADHD, autism or behavioural difficulties.
• Strong behaviour management skills and ability to support pupils with challenging behaviour.
• Calm, patient and resilient approach to difficult situations.
• Excellent communication and ability to build positive relationships.
• Understanding of trauma-informed approaches and de-escalation strategies.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
• Genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people.

Responsabilités

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
• Support academic, emotional and social development of pupils aged 10-16.
• Manage challenging behaviour with positive strategies and de-escalation.
• Build trusting relationships with pupils who may have trauma histories.
• Assist teachers with delivering differentiated lessons aligned to EHCP targets.
• Encourage confidence, independence, resilience and social skills.
• Collaborate with teaching and pastoral teams to maintain a safe learning environment.
• Support pupils during classroom activities, transitions and breaks.
• Follow safeguarding procedures to promote pupil welfare.
