Job summary

Elementa Support Services in Weston-super-Mare is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Mentor to work with ASD/ASC and SEMH learners in a newly expanding provision. You will contribute to delivering an alternative education curriculum and act as a positive role model for students with diverse needs.

The role requires recognising emotional and educational needs, creating suitable activities, and supporting families to reinforce learning at home.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with learners who have SEMH and have experienced trauma.
• Ability to engage parents in supporting children at home by helping to set boundaries and managing behaviour.
• Willingness to undertake training and deliver ideas so that they can be implemented.

Responsibilities

• Deliver an alternative education curriculum and act as a positive role model for learners.
• Recognise emotional and educational needs and create appropriate learning activities around individual learners.
• Respond to and support learners with challenging behaviour; use strategies from Team Teach / PBM / MAPA if trained.
