Job summary

Teaching Personnel Ltd. is seeking an SEMH Learning Support Assistant to support pupils with SEMH needs in Newton Abbot. You will provide 1:1 and small-group support, assist with emotional regulation, and help implement EHCP targets to help pupils access learning.

The role offers full-time, term-time hours (8:30 am–3:30 pm), with a pay rate of £95–£105 per day, starting ASAP. A rewarding role in SEND and pastoral settings awaits in Newton Abingdon area.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children with SEMH or challenging behaviour preferred.
  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to SEMH pupils.
  • Support emotional regulation, behaviour management and social development.
  • Implement behaviour support plans and EHCP targets.
  • Help pupils access learning by reducing barriers from anxiety or trauma.
  • Promote positive relationships, resilience and self-esteem.
  • Support pupils during transitions and unstructured times.
  • Collaborate with class teacher, SENCo and pastoral teams.
