Job summary

TimePlan Education are seeking an experienced SEMH Learning Support Assistant to support 11-16 year olds in Thrapston, Northamptonshire. You will provide targeted 1:1 and small-group support, helping pupils engage with learning and manage emotions in a safe environment.

If you have experience with SEMH, challenging behaviour and complex needs, and you are calm, patient, and resilient, we want to hear from you.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting young people with SEMH needs.
• Experience with challenging behaviour and complex needs.
• Experience across learning support roles desirable.
• Strong safeguarding awareness.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support.
• Supporting pupils with SEMH and additional needs.

TimePlan Education are currently recruiting for an experienced and resilient SEMH Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist alternative education setting in Thrapston.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience supporting young people with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, complex needs or emotional and behavioural difficulties.

The Role

You will be supporting young people aged 11-16 who may have experienced difficulties within mainstream education and require additional support to engage with learning.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support.
• Supporting pupils with SEMH and additional needs.
• Managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour.
• Building positive and trusting relationships with young people.
• Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
• Encouraging engagement and participation in learning.
• Working closely with teachers and pastoral staff.
