Job summary

Cover People are seeking an SEMH Learning Support Assistant in Chesterfield to support students with social, emotional and mental health needs. The role runs full-time, Monday to Friday, starting September 2026, with a daily pay rate of £95–£110 DOE.

You will work in a specialist provision, delivering tailored interventions and building strong relationships to help students re-engage with education and develop key skills for future success.

Qualifications

• Experience with SEMH, SEND or behavioural needs.
• Calm, patient and resilient approach.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Support SEMH students in lessons and small-group settings.
• Help students engage with learning and social development.
• Assist with behaviour management using restorative approaches.
• Support emotional regulation and resilience development.
• Collaborate with teachers, pastoral teams and external agencies to support outcomes.
• Monitor progress and provide feedback to the team.
