Job summary

Milk Education is recruiting a SEMH Learning Support Assistant to support pupils aged 11-16 with social, emotional and mental health needs in a Ponteland school. You will help students regulate emotions and access learning within a nurturing environment.

The role emphasises resilience, empathy and patience, with strong collaboration alongside teachers and pastoral staff in a supportive school setting.

Qualifications

• Experience in a school, alternative provision or youth setting is desirable.
• Solid numeracy and literacy skills.
• An Enhanced DBS certificate on the update service (or willingness to apply).

Responsibilities

• Provide consistent 1:1 and small group support for pupils aged 11-16 with SEMH needs.
• Build positive, trusting relationships to encourage engagement and resilience.
• Support students to regulate their emotions and use positive behaviour strategies.
• Collaborate with teachers and pastoral staff to deliver personalised learning activities.
