Job summary

Horizon Teachers are working with a specialist school in Essex to recruit a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to support pupils with SEMH needs in East London. This role offers a chance to help pupils overcome barriers to learning in a structured and supportive environment, building positive relationships and supporting their personal development.

The ideal candidate will have experience with SEMH or similar needs, be patient and resilient, and possess excellent communication skills to work

Qualifications

• Has experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, behavioural or additional needs.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Patient, resilient and able to manage challenging behaviour.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
• Support pupils with emotional regulation, engagement and positive behaviour.
• Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to encourage learning and personal development.
• Work closely with teachers and the wider school team to deliver tailored support.
• Help maintain a safe, calm and positive learning environment.
