Job summary

Beckers Green Primary School, part of the Saffron Academy Trust, is seeking an SEMH Learning Support Assistant to support pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs. The role is part-time, temporary, with a start date of immediate availability.

Candidates should have GCSE English and Maths at grade C/4 or above and recent SEMH experience. A warm, supportive environment and ongoing professional development are offered as part of our team.

Qualifications

• Recent experience supporting primary-aged children with SEMH needs.
• Strong understanding of trauma-informed and relational approaches to supporting children and young people.
• Experience building positive relationships that help children feel safe and ready to learn.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality support for pupils with SEMH needs.
• Assist in planning and delivering personalised learning programmes.

• Work with teaching staff, families and external agencies to tailor support.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality support for pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
• Assist in the planning and delivery of personalised learning programmes that make full use of both indoor and outdoor learning environments.
• Build positive, nurturing relationships with children, supporting their emotional wellbeing and development.
• Help create a safe, structured, engaging and inspiring learning environment.
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff, families and external agencies to provide tailored support for individual pupils.
• Promote inclusion, emotional wellbeing and positive engagement throughout the school day.
• Deliver outreach support, working alongside colleagues to meet the needs of pupils across the school.

The successful candidate will have:

• GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English Language and Mathematics (or equivalent qualifications).
• Recent experience supporting primary-aged children with SEMH needs and/or other additional needs.
• A strong understanding of trauma-informed and relational approaches to supporting children and young people.
• Experience of building positive relationships that enable children to feel safe, valued and ready to learn.

It would be advantageous for candidates to have:

• Experience working within an SEMH provision or specialist educational setting.
• Knowledge and understanding of SEND processes, paperwork and documentation.
• Experience of working alongside external professionals and agencies to support pupil outcomes.
