Job summary

Boreham Primary School is seeking a dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistant to support a pre-verbal reception pupil with an EHCP. Start as soon as possible. Role is fixed-term and part-time, Monday to Friday 8:35am - 1pm, for the duration of the child's attendance and funding at the school.

The successful candidate will work under the SENCo, supporting pupils who are pre-verbal and helping them gain attention, communicate needs, and engage in tasks with guidance from other professionals.

Qualifications

  • Experience of supporting pupils with SEND.
  • Experience of working with pre-verbal pupils.
  • Excellent communication skills with pupils and staff.
  • Patient, flexible and supportive approach.

Responsibilities

  • Support a pre-verbal reception pupil to gain attention and focus.
  • Follow SaLT plans to develop communication.
  • Shadow and model safe learning, play and eating.
  • Work with and follow advice of other professionals.

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEND Learning Support Assistant to provide support for a pre-verbal, happy, calm, determined, reception pupil with an EHCP, starting as soon as possible.

The successful candidate will be required to support pupils who are pre-verbal and need help to gain attention and focus on tasks; communicate to get their needs met and show their learning. Shadow and model safe learning, play and eating. In addition, they will be required to work and follow the advice of other professionals.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be passionate about supporting pupils with SEND
  • Have experience of supporting pupils with additional needs within a classroom
  • Have experience of working with pre-verbal pupils, to support and interpret their intentions
  • Able to folllow SaLT plans to develop communication
  • Have excellent communiation skills
  • Patient, flexible and supportive in their approach, showing initiative and an ability to work independently if necessary
  • Have a good sense of humour
