Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a passionate Learning Mentor to support pupils with SEMH in an Alternative Provision in Blyth, starting September 2026 on a temporary to permanent basis. This full-time position offers a long-term opportunity to build positive relationships and make an impact on pupils' lives.

You will provide one-to-one and small group support to 11-16 year olds, collaborate with Class Teachers, and develop understanding of diverse learning needs to enhance engagement and progress.

Qualifications

• A Supporting Teaching and Learning or Childcare-based Qualification (desired)
• Experience of working with Children in Schools in the UK
• An ability to build positive relationships and a rapport with pupils and staff.
• A resilient, proactive, and positive nature
• Hold Right to Work in the UK
• Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
• Provide two professional references that cover the last two years

• The School supports pupils with varying levels of SEMH aged 11-16 who have been excluded from mainstream School and require extra support with their learning and engagement.
• A key part of the role will be to develop an understanding of the different needs and learning styles of different pupils within the classroom, working closely alongside Class Teachers and colleagues to establish this.

• The role is based in an inspirational Alternative Provision in Blyth.
• The School supports pupils aged 11-18 with varying levels of SEMH and SEND who have been temporarily excluded from mainstream School.
• The School has an outstanding supportive culture and Leadership Team, where staff work as a Team within classrooms to provide high standards of support to pupils.

Pay, Hours and Contract:

• Hours – , Monday to Friday
• Contract – Full-time until the end of the Academic Year in July 2027. Temp to Perm Contract.
• Start Date – September 2026
• Location – Blyth
