Job summary

Cover People are hiring a SEMH HLTA in Bolton to provide general behaviour and pastoral support to secondary pupils with SEMH needs. You will lead practical activities, including in the Vocational Skills Hub, and help pupils build confidence and life skills.

The ideal candidate will have an HLTA qualification or equivalent, some SEMH experience, and a calm, flexible approach. Driving is preferred due to involvement in vocational/outdoor activities and cross-site support.

Qualifications

• HLTA qualification or equivalent or above.
• Experience with SEMH or challenging behaviour.
• Resilient, calm and not easily phased by difficult situations.
• Confident leading activities and engaging young people in practical learning.
• Flexible, hands-on approach and good communication.
• Driver preferred for vocational/outdoor activities.
• Genuine passion for helping young people develop practical, social and life skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide general behaviour and pastoral support to secondary-aged pupils with SEMH needs.
• Lead engaging activities including games, food, life skills, outdoor education and sports.
• Help run the Vocational Skills Hub and encourage pupils to get involved in practical activities.
• Build positive relationships with pupils and help them develop confidence, resilience and independence.
• Support pupils who may display challenging behaviour and remain calm when situations become difficult.
• Work closely with teaching, pastoral and leadership staff to support pupils’ wellbeing and progress.
• Promote positive behaviour, engagement and life skills throughout the school day.
