Job summary

Teaching Personnel is recruiting a dedicated Functional Skills Teacher to join a specialist secondary alternative provision in Salford. You will deliver Functional Skills to KS4 students in a supportive SEMH-focused environment.

The role involves differentiating lessons, building strong pupil relationships, and contributing to pupil progress reviews. A QTS/QTLS or equivalent and an enhanced DBS are required or to be obtained via Teaching Personnel.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), QTLS, or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching Functional Skills, English, Mathematics, or related subject at secondary level.
• Understanding of SEMH needs and challenges in alternative provisions.
• Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills.
• Patient, resilient, and empathetic approach.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one through Teaching Personnel.

Are you a dedicated teacher looking to make a meaningful impact on the lives of young people who need it most?

Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for a Functional Skills Teacher to join a specialist secondary alternative provision supporting students in Key Stage 4. This setting works with learners who face a range of barriers to education, including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), anxiety, trauma-related behaviours, attachment difficulties, emotional dysregulation, poor school attendance, and challenging behaviour.

The provision offers a structured, supportive, and therapeutic learning environment designed to re-engage students with education and prepare them for positive post-16 destinations. Class sizes are small, allowing staff to build strong relationships with pupils and deliver highly personalised learning programmes.
