Job summary

Randstad Education in Plymouth is seeking a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with SEMH in Key Stage 3 and 4. You will provide tailored 1:1 and small group support, using de-escalation strategies to create a safe and structured learning environment.

You will work closely with teachers and SENCO to adapt lessons to EHCP goals, monitor progress, and help students overcome emotional challenges. A DBS, SEMH experience, and Level 2/3 TA qualification are highly desirable.

Qualifications

Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service.
Experience with SEMH, challenging behaviour or complex needs.
Clear communication, patience and effective boundary setting.
Level 2/3 TA qualification or relevant training (e.g., Team Teach, MAPA) desirable.

Responsibilities

Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs.
Use de-escalation strategies and trauma-informed approaches to maintain a safe learning environment.
Act as a positive role model and build trusting relationships with pupils.
Collaborate with teachers to adapt lessons to EHCP goals.
Monitor progress and wellbeing, share insights with the SENCO.
