Job summary

Prospero Teaching is working with a Specialist School in Northenden to recruit an SEMH Teaching Assistant to support Secondary-aged pupils with additional needs. This role is full-time, long-term with a temp-to-perm pathway, based in Manchester (M22).

You will work 1:1 and in small groups to help pupils engage with learning and regulate emotions, while managing behaviours using positive strategies and building strong professional relationships with students and staff.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people with challenging behaviour, SEMH, SEN, or in a PRU/youth setting is advantageous.
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach with the ability to remain composed in challenging situations.
  • Confidence in setting boundaries and following behaviour management plans consistently.
  • Flexibility, strong communication skills, and a commitment to safeguarding and student welfare.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils on 1:1 and small group basis, helping them to engage in learning and regulate emotions.
  • Assist in managing challenging behaviour and sometimes high-risk behaviours, using positive behaviour strategies.
  • Build strong, professional relationships with pupils.

SEMH Classroom Teaching Assistant
Location - Manchester (M22)
Pay - GBP500-GBP600 per week, depending on experience
Start Date - ASAP
Contract Type - Long-Term, Temp to Perm

Are you an experienced behaviour/SEMH specialist, looking to secure a role? Prospero Teaching are working with a Specialist School in Northenden who support Secondary-aged pupils with additional needs. This school are in need of a classroom Teaching Assistant with SEMH experience to work on a full-time temp to perm basis.

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:
  • Support pupils on 1:1 and small group basis, helping them to engage in learning and regulate emotions
  • Assist in managing challenging behaviour and sometimes high-risk behaviours, using positive behaviour strategies
  • Build strong, professional relationships with pupils

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:
  • Hold Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide two professional child related references that cover the last two years
